7th Arrondissement of Paris Travel Guide

If you visit Paris, you’ll almost certainly visit the 7th arrondissement at some point during your trip! This neighborhood, located on the left bank of the Seine, is home to some of the most iconic sights in the City of Lights, including the Eiffel Tower and the d’Orsay Museum! There is so much to do and see (and eat!) in this small corner of Paris.

7th Arrondissement Attractions

Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is the most famous attraction in the 7th arrondissement! This iconic Parisian landmark attracts 7 million visitors every year. Visiting the Eiffel Tower is an absolute must when traveling to Paris! Visit after sunset to watch the tower’s lights sparkle at night, which happens on the hour every hour! Want to check out the view from the top? You can buy tickets on the official website to go to either the top or the second level (if you’re afraid of heights)!

The price of the tickets depends on the level you go to and whether you take the stairs or the elevator. There are several cafes and restaurants in the tower on each level. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time if you want to eat in one of the Tower’s restaurants. You can find more information about the restaurants and reservations here. Champ de Mars

The beautiful Champ de Mars park is located by the Eiffel Tower. This is a great place to have a picnic, take photos of the tower, and watch it sparkle at night!

Les Invalides

This French landmark is a multipurpose building, filled with museums, an active veteran’ hospital, and, most famously, Napolean’s tomb. Les Invalides first opened in 1676 as a home for old and ill soldiers. Other parts of the building were added throughout history, and today it’s also home to the Army Museum. Napolean Bonaparte is buried in an ornate tomb in the domed former church in the center of the complex. You can find the tombs for other famous French generals here as well. The Dome church is open every day.

Palais Bourbon

The Palais Bourbon is a French government building where the French National Assembly meets. This building is located across the Seine from Concorde.

7th Arrondissement Museums

D’Orsay Museum

The famous d’Orsay museum is one of the most famous museums in Paris. If you’re visiting Paris for the first time, make sure you come to this museum so you can admire paintings from artists like Van Gogh, Degas, Renoir, and more. I could spend hours wandering around this museum! Fun fact: the museum building is actually a remodeled train station from the turn of the 20th century! Get your tickets online ahead of time so you can skip the long lines to enter. This museum is closed on Mondays.

Rodin Museum

The beautiful Rodin Museum is another must-visit museum for art lovers in Paris! This mansion-turned-museum houses works from Rodin and his contemporaries, as well as works he had in his personal collection. The outdoor sculpture garden is particularly worth visiting. This museum is also closed on Monday.

Army Museum

The Army Museum is located in the Les Invalides military hospital complex. This museum has lots of historical artifacts like old weapons and military uniforms from various periods of French history. The museum is open every day, and the tickets are 12 euros per adult. You can buy tickets online here.

Quai Branly Museum

The Quai Branly Museum is yet another art museum located in the 7th arrondissement. Here, you can find art from all over the world, including Asia, Africa, and the Americans. This museum also has a collection of indigenous artworks. The Quai Branly Museum is closed on Mondays.

7th Arrondissement Restaurants

Au Bon Accueil

Located just a stone’s throw away from the Eiffel Tower, this is the perfect restaurant to visit for amazing French food. For a (relatively) reasonable price, you can enjoy a fantastic three-course dinner at this restaurant. It has been highly rated by lots of food critics (including those at the Michelin guide), and for good reason. Everything I had was delicious and beautifully plated (see photos above). This is my absolute favorite restaurant in the 7th arrondissement! Honestly, I would consider Au Bon Accueil a must-try restaurant for quintessential Parisian cuisine.

Le Grande Epicerie

If you love food, you have to visit Le Grande Epicerie in Paris. This is the food department of the fabulous Le Bon Marche department store (more on LBM below). This store has an amazing range of foods, including fantastic cheese, amazing meats, and ready-made meals! Although not necessarily a restaurant, there are several places to sit and eat located throughout the large food department! I recommend grabbing one of the incredible, pre-plated cheese boards and having a picnic at a nearby park!

Chapon

If you like chocolate, you will love Chapon! This chocolate store, located on Rue du Bac, has some incredible chocolate goods, including truffles and bars! I highly recommend trying a single-origin chocolate mousse from the mousse bar (pictured below)!

7th Arrondissement Shopping

Rue Cler

Rue Cler is a street in Paris known for its outdoor food market! This is a great place to shop for a picnic because there are several places to get meat, bread, cheese, and pastries! The market is open every day, but some stores are closed on Monday!

Le Bon Marche

Department stores are true Parisian institutions, and chains like Galeries Lafayette draw thousands (if not millions) of shoppers from around the world every year. Even though it’s not as famous as Galeries Lafayette, Le Bon Marche is a great place to experience the glamour and luxury of a Parisian department store. It is also far less crowded than the more famous stores, which can be borderline miserable with the hordes of tourists scrambling for souvenirs. Le Bon Marche has an amazing range of goods, ranging from designer couture clothing to impeccable stationery. I love visiting this store when I come to Paris, and its food department, Le Grande Epicerie, is a must-visit!

The 7th Arrondissement of Paris: A Must-Visit Neighborhood

From the Impressionist artwork featured in the d’Orsay Museum to the sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower, the 7th arrondissement is home to some of the most iconic Parisian sights! If you’re a foodie, you’ll love visiting the Rue Cler market and the Grande Epicerie! Shopping lovers shouldn’t miss the beautiful (and less touristy) Le Bon Marche department store!
