Barcelona

A year ago today, I was enjoying the beautiful city of Barcelona, so I thought it was only appropriate to share some of my favorite parts of this vibrant city. There is SO much to do, and the food was incredible!

There are so many wonderful attractions and museums in Barcelona. The city is very famous for the Gaudi architecture, so I’d recommend visiting some of the most interesting spots. You cant miss the Parque Guell- this park is like an abstract wonderland. If you don’t want to pay to go into the most famous sections, wait until the last hour the park is open when it becomes free! Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo, and Palau Guell are other Gaudi highlights in Barcelona. There also lots of walking areas that are amazing for wandering around and exploring- I recommend going to Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter, Parc de Cuitatella, and Passieg de Gracia. I also loved the Picasso Museum- this is a must see if you love surrealist artists! Finally, because Barcelona is a large city with attractions set far apart, I found using a hop-on bus to cover a lot of ground and get to the out of the way attractions was really helpful!

Barcelona was one of my favorite foodie cities! I’m only kind of kidding when I say I ate my way through the city. The Boqeria is a market filled with all sorts of amazing food- cured meats and cheeses, smoothies, fresh seafood, and more. I totally recommend grabbing a quick lunch here when touring the city! Down the street from the market is Chok- a chocolate and pastry shop with amazing goods. I got a creme brûlée cronut and it was insanely delicious. If you grow tired of tapas, churros, and paella (which would be difficult, I know), check out Bacoa for seriously amazing burgers! If hotdogs are on your mind, try The Box, which also specializes in house-flavored rums! Finally, for a delicious brunch, check out Milk Bar and Bistro!

Barcelona has so many options for nightlife! There are so many unique bars like Espit Chupitos, a bar with over a hundred different kids of shots- VERY FUN. George Payne is a busy Irish pub that is famous for its “Blackout Tray” with lots of different drinks and shots – perfect for sharing! We visited this bar on St. Patricks Day and it was PACKED. Dow Jones is another really fun bar. The drink menu is set up like the stock market exchange, with drink prices constantly changing throughout the night until the market “crashes” and the drinks go to their cheapest prices! If you like to go to clubs, I recommend checking out the places on the Passieg Maritim- there are lots of clubs that are always crowded. I went to Opium and stayed until closing at 6 AM after dancing the night away!
